Redefining brandscapes

Digikala Group had grown into a portfolio of more than 17 ventures, but its brand ecosystem had become increasingly difficult to navigate. As Strategy Consultant, Creative and Art Director, I developed a scalable brand architecture that balanced consistency with independence, giving leadership a clear framework for future growth.

Challenge

Growth had outpaced the system that held it together.

As Digikala expanded beyond its flagship marketplace, every new venture introduced another branding decision. Some businesses benefited from the parent brand, others needed greater independence, and no single model solved every scenario. The challenge wasn't simply to organise a portfolio—it was to build a framework leadership could trust as the business continued to evolve.

Execution

We stopped treating every brand the same and started defining the role each one should play.

Rather than forcing a single architecture across the entire portfolio, we developed a hybrid model that reflected how each venture created value. Clear criteria determined when brands should strengthen the Digikala name, when they should retain greater autonomy, and how new ventures could be integrated without creating confusion. The framework turned future brand decisions from subjective debate into a consistent strategic process.

Impact

Making the work
work harder.

Expansion gained a framework.

Leadership adopted a scalable architecture that could accommodate future ventures without reinventing the portfolio each time.

Every brand found its role.

Sub-brands, endorsed brands and standalone ventures each gained a clearer purpose within the wider ecosystem while preserving the flexibility they required.

Strategy became operational.

The architecture was supported by governance guidance that made consistent adoption practical across the organisation.

Endorsement

David brought structure to complexity—his strategic clarity helped us align a growing ecosystem without losing what made each brand distinct.
